temperatures are in and we are 27 now in santa rosa so black ice is a possibility. there is fog and visibility down to half a mile. 30 in fair feed and concord. those are the other freezing spots. 41 in antioch and 48 in san francisco and 43 in novato. we have temperatures in the upper 30's and upper 40's from monterey bay at 47. and gilroy flirting with frost at 33. more warming in the afternoon hours. we also still have poor air quality. rough surf of the enjoy the 60's and sunshine at the beaches. the next rain may not be until next month. all models are very dry through the beginning of february. today is the 18th. so that is a couple of weeks. napa, four degrees warmer and 63 and redwood city is 64 and san jose is 5 and extra were is 63. livermore, 63. oakland, 65, seven degrees warmer-than-average. and 65 in santa rosa and san jose the warmest weather, fremont, the warmest at 66 and fairfield is coolest at 60. upper 60's in the monterey bay to upper 60's to low 70's inland. tonight there is a a chance of scattered frost and mid-30's to around the low 40s. a sneaker wave tonight through t

in santa rosa and 29 also in the napa valley. the good news is by the afternoon i think today the beginning of temperatures running up in the 60s in many spots. about 61 in san jose. 60 in morgan hill. about 60 degrees and sunny in sunnyvale. as you make your way to the east bay maybe not quite as warm but not bad. 57 degrees in pleasanton. 57 in livermore. and about 56 degrees in concord. inside the bay we'll find some sunshine too and temperatures as high as 60 degrees in oakland. 57 in san francisco. a little bit of a sea breeze in toward the afternoon. but the weather looks like it's going to get nicer over the next few days. high pressure building in and it's a very strong ridge so likely going to see some mid- 60s some places maybe even warmer than that through friday and saturday staying nice and dry right through the weekend. in fact, no rain for the next five to zen days but elizabeth, that may all change next week. >> no. >> yes! i think by the end of next week we start to talk about rain again. >> i remember last year too just

. santa rosa 54. livermore 50. oakland warm at 59. concord currently 52 so we are on that climb upward towards 60 degrees. radar is clear, nothing on cbs 5 hi-def doppler. get used to that. it's going to be that way for a while. also get used to chilly nights. no more freeze warnings or frost advisories. but with clear skies, it's january, long nights, it will be chilly. fairfield at 30, 32 concord and livermore, 29 santa rosa, chilly in san francisco with a low of 43 degrees. but it's all due to a ridge of high pressure. it's not allowing any storm to get within let's say 800 or 900 miles of san francisco and the bay area. look at where the storm track is up toward juno, alaska and it's not coming anywhere close to us soon. so we are just going to monitor where that ridge of high pressure is going. right now it's just off to our west. it's attracting an east wind. it's strong, that offshore wind. as high pressure moves closer slowly the atmosphere will continue to warm up. we'll be dry and mild through the holiday weekend into next week. i don'

and san jose. temperatures falling back down to the 40s for livermore and santa rosa. nothing on the radar now. chopper 5 was up earlier toward pacifica where we'll have surfing competition earlier this weekend. we saw some whales off the coast of pacifica. a cool shot there. maybe the whale was enjoying sunshine throughout the bay area. let's talk about the lack of rainfall. what a change from december to january. santa rosa you had a foot of rainfall in december. so far, halfway through the month, 11% of your average rainfall for january. we are only running at 15% for san francisco. and also 15% for san jose. a lot of snow up in the mountains but that snowpack is creeping back down to normal because the lack of moisture recently. not much will change. another cold night tonight will be below freezing for napa, fairfield at the freezing mark for concord and livermore. redwood city chilly 34 degrees. satellite-radar very easily shows you this high pressure dome because we see clouds around the periphery going clockwise way off to the west

freezing again. no freeze warnings in effect but cold again. livermore, fairfield napa, santa rosa before freezing. san francisco mieder, 44. fremont, 36, vallejo 35, so baby steps back to normal temperatures buzz been chilly. san jose 34 and livermore an average low over the past seven days of 30 degrees. radar is clear with that big dome of high pressure over top of us. we're going to stay clear on cbs 5 high deaf doppler for awhile, and this is a huge ridge of high pressure about a thousand miles offshore not coming down until you get to eastern montana and north dakota. that's a big ridge and going to be centered -- this is key it's going to be centered right over top of us over the next couple of days. that means slowly the atmosphere will continue to warm. some of you will hit 60 degrees tomorrow. most of us will get there on thursday. once we get there the temperatures aren't going to move much. we will be above normal for much of the next week once we get there tomorrow. the amps will get milder and will be somewhere close to 60 degrees just about every day for the next week so to
